Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the new term! Please find attached an overview of the learning planned for Term 5 in Oak Class within our topic of “Walk on the Wild Side”.
This term our learning in English will be based around the exciting novel ‘Krindlekrax’ by Philip Ridley. Much of our topic work will be led by our science topic relating to animals, including humans and our PSHE learning about relationships. On our learning journey, the children’s interests may take us in new directions and we will be looking for opportunities to explore these interests and extend their learning.
In Oak class, we encourage children to read their books every night and record this in their reading log. Each time your child has 5 signatures in their reading record they will receive a Sapphire gem and a House Point. They will also earn a class reward for regular reading which will result in a class treat, if we reach our goal! It is still important for children to read aloud regularly to practise reading clearly with expression and intonation. Please encourage your child to be prepared for school by having their reading book and reading record with them each day.
This term we have PE on Wednesdays; children should come to school in PE kit on. They can wear trainers (preferably blue or black) or daps, a Tickenham PE top and blue or black shorts, skort or joggers. On Thursday afternoons, Oak class will be taking part in Forest Schools. For this we will need to be prepared for all weathers as the site is on an semi-exposed hillside. Your child will need to wear PE kit on Thursday and come prepared with a coat, waterproofs, wellies (or change of shoes) and a sunhat. We would recommend that your child wears several layers so they can adjust during the day.
In the hope that there is sunnier weather ahead, please can you ensure your child applies suncream before school and brings a sunhat as there is currently little shade on the field.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org
With thanks for your continued support,
Mrs Bougourd and Mrs Cooke
