Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the new term. Please find attached an overview of the learning planned for terms 1 & 2 within our topic of “Once Upon a Time.”
To enhance our topic and learning we would like children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. This could be from one of the traditional tales we will be learning about. Please do not bring any accessories. This will be on Friday 16th October.
As we go along, the children’s interests may take us in new directions and we will look for opportunities to develop these interests and extend their learning. If you are able to help in school or contribute your knowledge to our topic, we would love to hear from you.
In Oak Class, we would like children to read their books every night and you can record this in their reading log. For every week that your child reads 5 times they will receive a Sapphire gem. We will be sending home spellings for your child to learn each week. They will be introduced on Monday and tested on a Friday. Week One is the 7/9/2020. We are investigating the best way to deliver homework so please bear with us. We will endeavour to find the safest solution as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic, it is looking unlikely that we will be able to plan any trips to accompany our learning this term but we’re keeping everything crossed that this may change as we progress into the year! Please do share anything that may link to our topic as we would all love to hear or see anything!
This term we have PE on a Monday and Wednesday, children should come to school in PE kit on both days. They can wear trainers or daps (preferably blue or black), a Tickenham PE top and blue or black shorts, skort or joggers. Please can any long hair be tied back ready for these lessons. The PE lessons on a Wednesday will take place outside regardless of the weather so it is important that the children have a jumper and/or a coat for inclement weather! We will be adding embroidered PE hoodies to our PE kit list which will be available to purchase from Monsoon shortly so please do order one of them if you would like your child to have one to wear during PE lessons / to future sporting events.
Please can we also take this opportunity to remind all children to wear their high vis jackets whilst walking to and from school; Mrs Lester is giving out house points to everyone who wears one each day!
As always, if there is ever anything that you would like to talk to us about, please do let us know; we are keeping our class emails (firstname.lastname@example.org ) active whilst the restrictions are in place but we are always happy to arrange a meeting if required.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to contact us.
With thanks for your continued support,
Mrs Bougourd and Mrs Cooke
